HeXun Biosciences, Ltd. announced the successful implementation of the biodegradable microcarrier platform and 3D FloTrix™ vivaSPIN bioreactor series developed by CytoNiche Biotech. The integrated system has been fully adopted for large-scale manufacturing of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), establishing an automated production process with scalable capacity.
This collaboration was facilitated by Level Biotechnology Inc., serving as the key intermediary and technical bridge to connect both companies’ technological and market strengths. The three parties jointly initiated a strategic partnership to advance MSC mass production, expand international markets, and promote industrial upgrades in Taiwan and across Asia’s cell manufacturing and regenerative medicine sectors.

A Three-Way Collaboration to Build an Industrial-Scale MSC Manufacturing Platform
HeXun Biosciences focuses on innovative stem cell drug development, with human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) as its core technology. The company has actively expanded into CMO (Contract Manufacturing Organization) and CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization) services for various cell and cell-derived products.
HeXun operates a GMP-compliant, intelligent cell manufacturing facility with automated production systems and holds 33 patents covering cell processing, culture, preservation, and therapeutic applications. With the integration of CytoNiche’s microcarrier platform, HeXun can now achieve mass production exceeding ten billion cells per batch, demonstrating that the system significantly enhances hMSC yield and efficiency while maintaining stable cell quality and phenotype.
CytoNiche Biotech, an innovative biotechnology company spun off from the School of Medicine at Tsinghua University (Beijing), specializes in 3D cell culture, biodegradable microcarriers, and integrated bioreactor systems. Its flagship products, 3D TableTrix™ microcarriers and 3D FloTrix™ bioreactor system, feature high porosity and tunable particle sizes that preserve adherent cell characteristics in suspension culture. The biodegradable matrix enables gentle degradation during harvest, simplifying cell recovery and ensuring high purity — a key technology for scalable adherent MSC production.
CytoNiche provides comprehensive end-to-end solutions, from reagents, consumables, and equipment to process engineering. Its integrated workflow covers upstream cell expansion, concentration, and aseptic filling of final cell products. Notably, China’s first approved allogeneic MSC-based drug was manufactured using CytoNiche’s proprietary production process.
Level Biotechnology Inc. serves as CytoNiche’s exclusive distributor and technology partner in Taiwan, with extensive experience in the cell and gene therapy sector. The company is dedicated to introducing advanced bioprocessing technologies and platforms to enhance regional cell manufacturing capabilities. In this collaboration, Level played a crucial role as the communication and technology integration bridge, while also contributing supply chain expertise and market development support to help CytoNiche and HeXun jointly expand into overseas markets.
Building a Cross-Border Regenerative Medicine Ecosystem
As the developer and provider of the degradable microcarrier platform and the 3D FloTrix™ vivaSPIN series bioreactor systems, CytoNiche has entrusted after-sales services and subsequent reagent consumable supply to Level Biotechnology. We believe this collaboration will not only provide HeXun with more professional and robust full-chain support but also lay a solid foundation for the three parties to jointly build a cross-border cell preparation ecosystem. With HeXun’s successful implementation of the microcarrier platform, CytoNiche will leverage its strong networks in China, Singapore, and Southeast Asia to introduce potential clients and partners to HeXun, fostering deeper technology exchange and market collaboration.
This partnership positions HeXun not only as a key MSC manufacturing base in Taiwan but also as a central hub connecting the broader Asian market, accelerating its path toward internationalization.
Meanwhile, Level Biotechnology will continue to leverage its supply chain integration expertise to promote CytoNiche’s technology platforms across Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific region. Level will also assist HeXun in establishing long-term relationships with international clients, further extending the value chain of cell therapy and exosome-based products.
