[Introduction]
Background:
Currently, the main production methods for gene therapy projects include adherent cultivation, microcarrier cultivation, and suspended cultivation. Due to the fundamental differences in the cultivation methods of adherent and suspended cells, they exhibit variations in cell morphology, metabolism, and growth behavior, significantly impacting the quality and yield of the final products. Therefore, choosing the right cell cultivation process is of great significance for large-scale virus production.
Limitations:
While suspended cultivation is convenient and efficient, the high cost and long duration of cell suspension domestication require substantial financial and time support, making it unsuitable for early-stage cultivation such as research, small-scale trials, and pilot-scale trials. Adherent cultivation involves significant manual, space, and time costs, and the virus production efficiency is not high. Therefore, microcarrier cultivation is an excellent choice for the research, small-scale trials, and pilot-scale trials stages, providing a new option, especially for 293 and Vero cells that cannot undergo suspended cultivation.
Breakthrough:
In response to industry challenges, Cytoniche has developed the corresponding 3D FloTrix® large-scale cell cultivation process — the 3D TableTrix® G Series three-dimensional porous degradable microcarriers. Combined with a bioreactor, it achieves suspended cultivation of adherent cells. Subsequently, through incremental amplification, large-scale, high-quality cell amplification can be realized.

Compared to traditional carriers, the 3D TableTrix® G Series Microcarriers show significant advantages in cell amplification and virus production.
Used for large-scale cultivation of 293T cells, cell density can reach 1 × 107 cells/mL. Cells can be steadily amplified in a bioreactor, ultimately achieving high-titer production of secreted and intracellular viruses.
